Dine and Dish: Ladies Who Lunch at Bertucci’s Trevose, PA

I have always been a fan of a good Eggplant Parmesan for as long as I could remember.  Pretty much everywhere I ate it was the same; heavily breaded, fried, and smothered in cheese in sauce (and sometimes soggy).  There was only restaurant that baked their Eggplant Parmesan to perfection and wasn’t breaded was Bertucci’s.  I have been going to Bertucci’s for many years, it has been one of my favorite places to go and eat.  In fact, Bertucci’s was my salvation regarding my allergies; when I found out I had allergies to Gluten and Dairy, Bertucci’s was one of the few places that I can actually eat at and after the debacle at Cracker Barrel that one evening John and I went out to eat, they were very kind and accommodating at Bensalem location in Trevose, PA.

While I have dined at Bertucci’s at three of their locations, my favorite location is the one located at 3617 Horizon Boulevard in Trevose, PA.  On this particular occasion on my day off at the start of a long Memorial Day weekend, my dining companion was my Mother in Law to Be, June.  We both ordered the same thing; Eggplant Pomodoro with steamed broccoli, Lentil Soup, Insalata, with a Cauliflower flatbread starter sans cheese with the Pomodoro sauce on the side. The Cauliflower Flatbread was crisp, delicious, and was even more so with the Pomodoro sauce.  For the Insalata, I had mine with the Raspberry Vinaigrette (non-dairy) while June had hers with the House dressing, which contains dairy.  The Lentil soup was savory and delectable; I have always loved a good Lentil soup and I am very particular.  Thankfully, Bertucci’s never disappoints.  The main star of the meal, the Eggplant Pomodoro (mine sans cheese, June’s with the cheese on top) was fantastic, baked to perfection, not too soggy and not too firm, the broccoli crisp and not overcooked.  June and I both enjoyed every single bite.

The dining area was well lit and cozy.  It was the perfect atmosphere to just relax and chat while dining.  I also wanted to take the opportunity to mention that the service was absolutely phenomenal.  While the service is usually pretty good at the Bensalem Bertucci’s, the gentleman who waited on us, Stay-C, went above and beyond for us.  As part of my personal dining experience within the last year, no matter where I go, I have to inform the server about my food allergies so they know to inform the kitchen that they have to prep my food in a special area, put on clean gloves, etc.  Stay-C went above and beyond to make sure everything was correct and he was also super nice as well, which made everything a lot easier for me regarding my dining experience; while mistakes do happen in the kitchen, allergies aren’t anything to mess with and he made sure that I was 100% taken care of as well as my dining companion.  Also, something worth mentioning, Bertucci’s is “Gluten Sensitive” and not Gluten Free; however they are very accommodating to people who do have Gluten allergies.  Since I have double allergies, it’s even more difficult than usual for me to eat pretty much anywhere and I am glad that Bertucci’s can accommodate my dietary needs.  If you are ever in the vicinity of the Neshaminy Mall or anywhere else nearby and looking for a place to eat, I highly recommend this particular Bertucci’s franchise location.
