I have always been a fan of nut brittle, toffee, caramel; basically, anything that is sweet and has a tendency to get stuck in my teeth.  These types of sweets, however, were in question when I found out about my allergies last year.  While I’m not 100% certain that they contained gluten, they most likely contained dairy.   I was trying to avoid sweets in general and I didn’t feel like I was missing out.  However, I do like a good nut brittle, just didn’t really cross my mind to actively seek any out because of my presumption that everything contained gluten and dairy.

Bucks County Brittle and More LLC, located in New Hope, PA, was the first place that I found within the last year that offers nut brittle that is both Gluten Free and Dairy Free.  I discovered Bucks County Brittle and More at one of the many fairs and festivals that John and I have been to, mostly at Peddler’s Village in Lahaska, PA.  After many occasions of trying samples and not sure if I really wanted to buy anything, I finally pulled the trigger and bought a container.  While Joanne, the owner and proprietor of Bucks County Brittle and More, had many varieties to choose from, I decided on the Black Cherry Almond Brittle.

The brittle itself is crunchy with a subtle hint of Black Cherry flavor.  I will admit that I thought it was so good, I was tempted to eat the entire 8 oz. container (thankfully, I didn’t).  The brittle did get stuck in my teeth, but nut brittle does that and that is part of the enjoyment of eating it for me.  The product is available online at https://buckscountybrittle.com/ and most of the nut brittle is Gluten Free and Dairy Free.  You can either make a purchase online or, if your local to the Philadelphia area, check out Joanne’s product in person, just be sure to check the show schedule.
